#7 – GOD’S PERSONAL TOUCH

GOD’S PERSONAL TOUCH

“Faith is like radar that sees through the fog the reality of things at a distance that the human eye cannot see.”  Corrie Ten Boom

Our hope, strength, and peace come from GodHe personally makes himself real to us especially when we need him most!  Each one of us has our own story to tell.  We can share testimonies of our loving God and his hand in our lives!  The testimonies shared today were heartfelt and inspiring!  God is not superficial, but He is real in every way!

We read a story of J. C. Penney and how he met God in a profound way.  In 1929, he was hospitalized due to being extremely ill.  Penney had given up hope and thought he wouldn’t survive the night so he wrote farewell notes to his family expressing his love for them.  He made it through the night and as he was going to the chapel the next morning, he heard the hymn “God Will Take Care of You.”  He felt the power of God in a very tangible way!  His hope was restored.

There are times when we all feel overwhelmed and are tempted to give up hope.  It’s at those times we discover how close God is and how much He truly cares!God has a way of meeting us right where we are and ministers to us in a very personal way that speaks directly into our situations.  He may use songs, hymns, scriptures, prayers, a sermon, or thoughtful words from a friend.

God has met me at critical times in my life and I’m so very thankfulDrawclose to God in times of devastation.  Psalms 23:4 He promised to be with us.  The responses we make in those times can directly impact others’ lives.  Acts 7-9Just look at Stephen and the profound life changing impact that was made onSaul’s life!

#6 – GOD’S COLORFUL EXPRESSIONS

2015-02-19 Home sky 001new

“God’s Colorful Expressions”

We know the sun is shining even when all you see are dark clouds.  Eventually the storm begins to pass and you see the sun’s rays shining through. Even in our darkest hour, God is with us.  He is speaking to us and continually communicating with colorful expressions!   Even when we mess up, He still desires a relationship with us.  God loves us so much that He continually reaches out to us in communicating using colorful expressions.   As we learn to know and recognize His voice, we will realize He was there all the time!

Don’t limit God and put Him in a box!  Look at the many different ways He communicated with those in the Bible!  Our extraordinary God is creative and miraculousGenesis 6:13-21 God told Noah to build an ARK even though it had never rained before.  Exodus 3 God spoke to Moses in the form of a BURNING BUSHGenesis 37-50 He spoke to Joseph through many DREAMS.  God also gives people VISIONS.  Look at Ezekiel and Daniel in the Old Testament and Paul and John in the New Testament.  Luke 1 He used an ANGEL to announce the birth of Jesus.

God speaks to us in many ways communicating His love for us.  Do you only expect to hear God on Sundays?  That’s a good start, but what about everyday anywhere at any time?  1 Corinthians 2 We read about how God leads and guides us by His Spirit.  He knows us better than we know ourselves.  The Holy Spirit reveals God to us like a light bulb being turned on1 Corinthians 2:10-12

Hearing from God is essential in knowing what God has for you!  God is faithful and He will speak His word to us and give us understanding by His Spirit!  He’s not limited in any way.  Expect God to reveal Himself to you in colorful ways by His Spirit through His word.

If you have to miss a lesson, you can find it here on this blog.

THE POWER OF EASTER

The Power Of Easter

The Power Of Easter Is The Greatest Power In The Universe

See video of this message by clicking here.

Listen to the audio message by clicking here.

Opening Scripture:

Matthew 16:21-25  “From that time on, Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.

Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. “Never, Lord!” he said. “This shall never happen to you!”

“Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the things of God but the things of men.” Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it.”

  1. The power of Easter is the most powerful force in the universe.

Nothing in the universe has to the power to raise someone from death to life.

Jesus had bled out.

He was dead for three days.

The Bible says His spirit had left his body.

No one has ever had the power to bring someone back from this kind of death.

Fiction writers have speculated.

The Frankenstein story written by Mary Shelley took us into a lab with incredible power being generated by a lightning storm as a means of reanimation.

The modern Zombie books and movies talk about the undead, but who are never really alive again.

If someone is only dead for a few minutes they can sometimes be resuscitated with CPR, or Defibrillators can be engaged, but when there is no oxygen to the brain for 7 or 8 minutes, its over. The brain has already begun to die.

But Jesus didn’t go through a mock death, or a temporary death, the body of Christ was stone cold dead for three days, locked in a stone tomb with a massive boulder rolled over the door.

WHAT HAPPENED THAT MADE IT POSSIBLE FOR HIM TO COME BACK TO LIFE.

Ps 84:11 NKJV “For the Lord God is a sun and shield…”

The Creator of the universe is saying he has harnessed the very power of the stars…

Acts 1:3 NJB “He showed Himself alive to them after His Passion by many demonstrations: for forty days He continued to appear to them and tell them about the kingdom of God.”

Rom 1:4 LB “By being raised from the dead He proved He was the mighty Son of God, with the nature of God Himself.”

Eph. 1:19-20 LB “I pray that you will begin to understand how incredibly great His power is to help those who believe Him.  It is that same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead.”

1 Cor 15:3-8 NKJV “For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve. After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have fallen asleep. After that He was seen by James, then by all the apostles. Then last of all He was seen by me also, as by one born out of due time.”

  1. This power of Easter paid the price for our sins so we don’t have to.

God sent Jesus to redeem us from the fall shouting “Paid in Full!”

Rom 6:23 NLT  “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Heb 1:3 NLT  “The Son reflects God’s own glory, and everything about him represents God exactly. He sustains the universe by the mighty power of his command. After he died to cleanse us from the stain of sin, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God of heaven.”

  1. How should I respond to the death of Jesus Christ for me?

  • I should love Christ more.

1John 4:19 NIV “We love because He first loved us.”

  • I should turn from my sins.

Rom 6:6 NCV “Our old life died with Christ on the cross so that our sinful selves would have no power over us and we’d no longer be slaves to sin.”

  • I should tell others about God’s love in Christ.

2 Cor 5:19 NLT “God was in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them.  This is the wonderful message He has given us to tell others.”

  • I should prepare for His return.

Jn 20:1-7 NLT ““Early Sunday morning, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance. She ran and found Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved. She said, ‘They have taken the Lord’s body out of the tomb, and I don’t know where they have put him!’ Peter and the other disciple ran to the tomb to see. The other disciple outran Peter and got there first. He stooped and looked in and saw the linen cloth lying there, but he didn’t go in.Then Simon Peter arrived and went inside. He also noticed the linen wrappings lying there, while the cloth that had covered Jesus’ head was folded up and lying to the side.”

The story of the  folded napkin:

Why did Jesus fold the linen burial cloth after His resurrection? The Gospel of John (20:7) tells us that the napkin, which was placed over the face of Jesus, was not just thrown aside like the grave clothes. The Bible takes an entire verse to tell us that the napkin was neatly folded, and was placed separate from the grave clothes.
Was that important? Absolutely!
Is it really significant? Yes!
In order to understand the significance of the folded napkin, you have to understand a little bit about Hebrew tradition of that day. The folded napkin had to do with the Master and Servant, and every Jewish boy knew this tradition.
When the servant set the dinner table for the master, he made sure that it was exactly the way the master wanted it.
The table was furnished perfectly, and then the servant would wait, just out of sight, until the master had finished eating, and the servant would not dare touch that table, until the master was finished. Now, if the master were done eating, he would rise from the table, wipe his fingers, his mouth, and clean his beard, and would wad up that napkin and toss it onto the table.
The servant would then know to clear the table. For in those days, the wadded napkin meant, ‘I’m done’.
But if the master got up from the table, and folded his napkin, and laid it beside his plate, the servant would not dare touch the table, because……….. The folded napkin meant,
‘I’m coming back!’
HALLELUJAH!  HE’S COMING BACK!!!

#5 – THE WAYS GOD SPEAKS

Cindy Black Bice, Aloha Garden Bible Study

“The Ways God Speaks”

Is it important to read the Bible?  Emphatically, “YES!”  It’s imperative to know what God says to be able to understand and discern what He’s saying to usThe Word is a solid foundation and a filter by which we measure everything we hear. One of the ladies said, “it’s vital to me; In Him I live and move and have my being.” Acts 17:28

Psalm 119:105 “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.”  Hisword is like a spiritual flashlight that when read and applied shines clearly the way to go.  We find in Isaiah 40:8 “the word of our God endures forever.” Psalm119:11 “Thy word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against thee.” Knowing and having the word deep in our hearts can keep us.

Look at Jesus when he was tempted by satan.  Jesus overcame satan’s temptations and misused scriptures by understanding and knowing the scriptures.   God’s word is truth.  Jesus is the truthJohn 14:6Jesus said unto him, I am the way the truth and the life: No one cometh to the Father, but by me.” John 8:32 “Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

The Bible is God’s love letter to us!  We can personally know the Creator of the Universe!  Jesus is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.  He is with us always.  He cares about us and desires a closer walk with us than we could even imagine!  When we read the word, He writes it in our hearts and the more we read, the more we understand.

#4 – GOD’S VOICE SURPRISES

2015-03-01 097 (1)

God’s Voice Surprises”

Have you ever been completely surprised?  Sometimes we’re surprised by whatGod says, how he says it, and through whom it is said.  Moses was probably quite surprised when God spoke to him through a burning bush.   He saw his own inadequacies, like a speech impediment and felt inadequate to lead God’s people.   God saw him as a leader who would deliver His people.  I’m glad Moses listened!

When you look at yourself and others, you see the frailness of humanity.  If we’re not careful, we will view God with the same nearsightedness and put limits on Him.  Dare to open your eyes to see yourself not as you are, but as the way God sees, loves, and knows you!   Listen to His voice in every situation in your life and you may be in for a few wonderful surprises!

In review:

The first four chapters were on “Hearing God’s Voice.” 1. Creates 2. Invites 3. Exposes, and 4. Surprises.

Mark 4:9 “Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.”  God is speaking, let’slisten!  Welcome God into every room of your heart.  Revelation 3:20 “Behold, I stand at the door and knock.  If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.”

ENTERING GOD’S REST THROUGH FAITH

Opening Scripture:

Heb 3:19 NLT “So we see that because of their unbelief they were not able to enter his rest.”

  1. God puts faith in every one of us so we have the capacity to see the invisible, and do the impossible.

Rom 12:3b NKJV “as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.”

Rom 10:17 NKJV “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

1 Jn 5:14 NKJV “Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.”

Mk 11:24-24 NLT “Then Jesus said to the disciples, “Have faith in God. 23 I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart. 24 I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours.”

  1. When we enter into a state of faith, the Bible calls this a state of “rest”, meaning we can now rest in the assurance of God’s faithfulness.

Heb 4:1-3a NKJV “Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it. For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them,[a] not being mixed with faith in those who heard it. For we who have believed do enter that rest,”

  1. To understand what God is saying to us today about “rest” and “faith”, it is important that we learn from the teaching of the Old Testament.

Many today no longer consider the OT relevant, but without it we cannot properly interpret the NT, because the NT is the fulfillment of the OT. The Bible is really just one book. The same HS wrote all of it. It all reflects the heart and mind of God.

2 Tim 3:16 Living Bible “The whole Bible was given to us by inspiration from God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives; it straightens us out and helps us do what is right.”

Rom 15:4 Message “Even if it was written in Scripture long ago, you can be sure it’s written for us.”

1 Cor 10:8-11 NET “And let us not be immoral, as some of them were, and twenty-three thousand died in a single day. And let us not put Christ to the test, as some of them did, and were destroyed by snakes. 10 And do not complain, as some of them did, and were killed by the destroying angel. 11 These things happened to them as examples and were written for our instruction, on whom the ends of the ages have come.”

  1. Israel’s failure to enter their “promised land” is an object lesson for us on why we sometimes do not reach our “promised land.”

Numbers 14:20-24 NLT “Then the lord said, “I will pardon them as you have requested.21But as surely as I live, and as surely as the earth is filled with the lord’s glory, 22not one of these people will ever enter that land. They have all seen my glorious presence and the miraculous signs I performed both in Egypt and in the wilderness, but again and again they have tested me by refusing to listen to my voice. 23They will never even see the land I swore to give their ancestors. None of those who have treated me with contempt will ever see it. 24But my servant Caleb has a different attitude than the others have. He has remained loyal to me, so I will bring him into the land he explored. His descendants will possess their full share of that land.”

Heb 3:19 NLT “So we see that because of their unbelief they were not able to enter his rest.”

  1. The Israelites continually tempted the Lord by disobeying His word. Disobedience keeps us from entering God’s rest of faith, and disobedience is the result of unbelief.

Rev 2:7 NKJV “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”

What is God saying to us? That is your test.

  1. Last week He told us through Minister Jackie to POP (Power of Praise). Did we enter into rest by activating God’s Word through faith and obedience, or did we disobey through unbelief?
  2. The previous week the Lord told us through my message that Jesus is our healer. Are we activating God’s Word through our faith?
  3. Several Sunday’s ago God spoke to us through Pastor Cathy about the apostolic anointing that God is raising up in our day, and that God wants to unite the church by His glory. Did we receive that and start contending for it, or have we already let it slip?
  4. A few Sunday’s before Pastor Cathy’s message God spoke to us through His servant Jehu Rodriguez when he told us DON’T LET GO, three things…prayer, Word of God, worship. Did we enter into rest by embracing God’s faith in this message, or did we disobey through unbelief?

Every week God is giving us a living brick to put in our foundation. Are we going back and listening to these messages from God when we miss? Or is our foundation missing important bricks?

Our nation is in trouble because it is ignoring God’s Word. Our founding fathers told us in the beginning of America that a representative democracy would not work without the God and the Bible. So now that we have pushed God and the Bible out of our government and nation, we have now have confusion and every evil work. Look at what God’s Word says and look at what is going on in our society:

Concerning abortion, the Bible says in Ex 20:13 “You shall not murder.”

Concerning homosexuality, the Bible says in Lev 18:22 ““Do not practice homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman. It is a detestable sin.”

Concerning adultery, the Bible says in Dt 22:22 ““If a man is discovered committing adultery, both he and the woman must die. In this way, you will purge Israel of such evil.”

Concerning sexual relations before marriage, otherwise known as fornication, the Bible says in Eph 5:3 “But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints.” God still wants Christians to be virgins when they get married.

  1. God has given us the power to believe and obey. It is a choice we make. What will your choice be today, this week, and for the “rest” of your life?

Joshua 24:15 NKJV “And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

#3 – GOD’S VOICE EXPOSES

2015-03-10 Yellow Tree

“God’s Voice Exposes”

Last Tuesday Christy shared a beautiful picture of a yellow tree she photographed for her bonus activity (a portrait of God’s creation) We are given many opportunities to respond to His voice inviting us.

“The relationship between God and a man is more private and intimate than any possible relation between two fellow creatures,” by: C. S. Lewis.

We’ve learned that God’s voice creates, invites, and today we learned that “God’s voice EXPOSES.”  When His voices exposes something in our hearts,God desires to bring us to wholeness in our relationship with Him and others. Quite often God will speak to us and it will be like a light shining in our hearts exposing everything.  It’s important that we listen to Him.

Have you ever watched mystery movies or played mystery games?  They keep you guessing and searching for clues trying to figure out who done it! Following God is the greatest adventure and it can have an element of mystery too.  1 Timothy 3:16 a “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness…” God wants us to “ask, seek, and knock!”  He wants to revealHimself to us.  He also searches our hearts.  Psalms 139:23   “Search me, O God, and know my heart:  try me, and know my thoughts:  And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”  Let’s keep our eyes on Jesus and our ears open to hear His voice!  He knows us better than we know ourselves and wants a personal relationship with each of us.

#2 – GOD’S VOICE INVITES

2015-03-10 Refreshment 001new (1)

“God’s Voice Invites”

God, the creator of the universe, desires a personal relationship with us!  He wants to fill us with His unconditional love and strengthen our hearts with joy.  He desires to be the center of our lives and not just a part of it.  This is the most exciting adventure you could imagine!

“God’s voice invites!”  We’re invited to pray. There are many postures of prayer: standing, bowing, kneeling, or laying prostrate on the floor.  The Holy Spirit helps us to pray.  We can pray for mercy, blessing, forgiveness, provision, strength, etc.  God hears every prayer.

God loves us and is calling us to a deeper relationship with Him.  If we truly want to hear His voice, we need to seek Him.

#1 – ALL OF LIFE IS A JOURNEY

2015-03-01 002new (1)

“All Of Life Is  A Journey”

All of life is a journey to get from where you are to where you are going.  “How will you get there if you never start and aren’t willing to make the journey?”

This past Tuesday was a wonderful time of fellowship and learning more about Hearing the creative voice of God in our own lives. It’s more amazing than we can imagine, the profound effect the spoken word of God has in our lives!  God spoke everything into existence.  He created everything by speaking it.  He’s still speaking to us today and creating thoughts, desires, and ideas in each of us.  We are filled with courage and hope when He speaks to us.

Remember that God created you and everything He creates is good.  You are very good!  See yourself the way He sees you!  We all came away refreshed, encouraged, and are looking forward to next Tuesday. We would love to share this time with you.

GIVE GOD A PLACE TO DWELL

GIVE GOD A PLACE TO DWELL

  1. The Old Testament gives us many object lessons to teach us what God wants to do in our lives. God brought the Israelites out of Egypt so He could dwell among them.

Exodus 19:5-6 NLTNow if you will obey me and keep my covenant, you will be my own special treasure from among all the peoples on earth; for all the earth belongs to me. And you will be my kingdom of priests, my holy nation…”

Ex 25:8 “Have the people of Israel build me a holy sanctuary so I can live among them.

Ex 29:43-46 “I will meet the people of Israel there, in the place made holy by my glorious presence.44Yes, I will consecrate the Tabernacle and the altar, and I will consecrate Aaron and his sons to serve me as priests.45Then I will live among the people of Israel and be their God, 46and they will know that I am the lord their God. I am the one who brought them out of the land of Egypt so that I could live among them. I am the lord their God.”

  1. The “Tent of Meeting” was a divine meeting place for God’s leader Moses to receive instructions for the people.

Ex 33:8-11 NLT “Whenever Moses went out to the Tent of Meeting, all the people would get up and stand in the entrances of their own tents. They would all watch Moses until he disappeared inside. 9As he went into the tent, the pillar of cloud would come down and hover at its entrance while the lord spoke with Moses.10When the people saw the cloud standing at the entrance of the tent, they would stand and bow down in front of their own tents. 11Inside the Tent of Meeting, the lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend. Afterward Moses would return to the camp, but the young man who assisted him, Joshua son of Nun, would remain behind in the Tent of Meeting.”

Ex 34:34 NLT “But whenever he went into the Tent of Meeting to speak with the lord, he would remove the veil until he came out again. Then he would give the people whatever instructions the lord had given him”

  1. God still calls and ordains leaders to Himself in the New Testament who must have a personal “Tent of Meeting” to hear from God so they can properly lead God’s people.

Eph 4:11-13 NKJV “Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. 12 Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. 13 This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.”

1 Pet 4:11 NKJV “If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.”

  1. The 5-fold ministry is to train the Body of Christ to do the work of the ministry.

Eph 4:12 “Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ.”

  1. Ultimately God has called all of us to be a believer/priesthood, to hear from God for ourselves, our families, and for the ministries we may lead by having our own “Tent of Meeting.”

  1. This is seen in the gathering of daily Manna. Exodus 16

  1. It is also seen in the teaching of the Sabbath Day. There are to be individual “Tents of Meeting” throughout the week, and a corporate one to gather together with others on the Sabbath Day. Notice the Bible says this is a covenant obligation for all time.

Ex 31:13 NLT “Tell the people of Israel: ‘Be careful to keep my Sabbath day, for the Sabbath is a sign of the covenant between me and you from generation to generation. It is given so you may know that I am the lord, who makes you holy.

Ex 31:13, 16-17 NLT “The people of Israel must keep the Sabbath day by observing it from generation to generation. This is a covenant obligation for all time. 17It is a permanent sign of my covenant with the people of Israel. For in six days the lord made heaven and earth, but on the seventh day he stopped working and was refreshed.’”

  1. What is God trying to teach us through these Old Testament Object lessons?

  1. He is teaching us that He wants to dwell among us so He can take us into our promised land. When we are in divine alignment we may go through SEASONS, but never CIRCLES like the Israelites did for 40 years.
  1. The cloud of God’s presence is moving again, and we must move with it.

  1. Divine assignments come from divine alignments. God love’s you too much to give you the promotion without the pruning. Make sure you are in proper alignment with the leaders God has placed in your life so you don’t miss this next visitation.

  1. Remember that God disciplines every son/daughter He receives so that we can become partakers of His holiness. Correction is never rejection, it is the litmus test for humility, which is being teachable.

  1. Answer your call to your personal “Tent of Meeting” and the corporate “Tent of Meeting” which is the local church.
